How to Get into Lecturership in the country of India

A teacher is regarded as having the most important profile because they shape the prospects of both the young and the country. A lecturer in a college or university is responsible for a variety of other tasks in addition to teaching. You must be aware of every detail if you have a career as a college lecturer. What competitive tests must you pass to become a professor?

You need to pass the following competitive tests if you want to get involved in professor jobs-

  • Exam for Lecturer NET (National Eligibility Test)

For the purpose of selecting applicants for the lecturer and JRF jobs, the NTA (National Testing Agency) administers the competitive test known as NET, also referred to as UGC NET. To be eligible to take this test, you must hold a master's degree from an approved university with at least a 55 percent grade point average. If you pass the test and obtain your UGC NET Certificate, you are eligible to apply for an Assistant Professor job in reputable colleges and universities around the country.


  • Graduate Engineering Aptitude Test (ATE)

The Graduate Aptitude Test, a countrywide competitive exam, is administered by the GATE Committee, which is composed of scholars from IISc Bangalore plus the seven IITs.


You can use your GATE score to submit applications for professor or lecturer posts at IITs or NITs after presenting your research articles as your Ph.D. thesis.


  • State Level Eligibility Test, or SLET

The National Testing Agency also handles the administration of the SLET, a state-level test. After passing the SLET, you will be eligible to apply to and collaborate with state-level schools and universities.


  • NET CSIR

The CSIR NET is a federal test that is handled by the Nationwide Testing Agency. The exam covers all areas of the physical sciences, life sciences, mathematical sciences, chemical sciences, and earth sciences. This exam (LS) determines whether candidates are eligible to apply for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Lectureship.


Lecturer skill requirements

  • It includes the ability to speak in front of a room full of people.

  • They should be skilled at developing plans for lessons and seminar materials, giving out and marking assignments, quizzes, and exams, as well as monitoring and assessing students' progress.

  • They should also be able to develop fresh lessons and teaching materials, keep track of paperwork, and carry out other administrative tasks.

  • They should also make it a habit to participate in events, attend workshops and professional development programs, and talk to prospective students.

  • They should have guided students, helped with problems, and oversaw practical work, employment opportunities, or field trips as personal tutors.
